The Carens Clavis comes with Kia’s digital tiger face design language, similar to the flagship EV9, and thin LED DRLs that flow into triangular-shaped LED headlights.
Kia India has officially unveiled its Kia Carens Clavis and confirmed that bookings will commence from May 9. Indian customers can pre-book their all-new Clavis MPV for a token of Rs 25,000. The newly launched model sits above the existing variants of Kia Carens. The brand has confirmed that it will be sold alongside the existing Kia Carens. The Clavis suffix comes with more premium features and distinctive design elements.
Compared to the current model, the new Kia Clavis MPV sports the brand’s latest design language, more tech features inside the cabin, a tweaked interior, and added safety features in the form of an ADAS suite. It will be available in six engine and gearbox options, and customers have seven different trims, including HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+ (O), HTX, and HTX+, to choose from.
Positioned as a premium, upmarket MPV, the Carens Clavis comes with Kia’s digital tiger face design language, similar to the flagship EV9, and thin LED DRLs that flow into triangular-shaped LED headlights.
The front and rear bumpers now come more angular; silver bash plates also add some contrast. While the silhouette resembles existing Carens, the Clavis features upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels.
The rear profile also looks similar except for its central LED light band, which is now thicker in the middle portion. Kia will offer its MPV in eight color options: Ivory Silver Gloss, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, and Clear White.
The seating arrangement looks similar to the pre-facelift Caren, but the Clavis gets an updated dashboard and a new two-spoke steering wheel, which is said to be borrowed from the Kia Syros. A 22.62-inch dual-screen setup in the Kia Seltos comprises a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The MPV also packs new design AC vents and controls for Auto AC.
The Kia Carens Clavis also has a 4-way powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, a Level 2 ADAS suite, a panoramic sunroof, and an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system. The safety suite of Kia’s latest MPV in the market includes six airbags, disc brakes in front and rear, ESC, HAC, VSM, and ABS.
Mechanically similar to the Kia Carens, the Clavis gets an additional engine and gearbox option. Along with a 1.5-liter petrol (115 hp) with a 6-speed manual, a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol (160 hp) with a 6-speed iMT/7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a 1.5-liter diesel (116 hp) with a 6-speed MT/6-speed AT, the Carens Clavis also has a 6-speed manual option for its 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine.
Kia hasn’t confirmed the pricing for its new Carens Clavis, but it is expected to have a slightly premium pricing range than the existing models of Kia Carens. Once launched, it will compete with Maruti Ertiga, Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Toyota Hycross.
